Therapy and ADHD
“Diversity happens. Inclusion is a choice.”
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or "ADHD" is a neurobehavioral disorder characterized by core symptoms of inattentiveness, distractibility, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ADHD impacts things like focus, working memory, emotional regulation and problem solving. Source: ADHD Fact Sheet. Symptoms associated with ADHD can interfere with work, school, household tasks, and relationships, and managing the disorder can be a challenge for both children and adults.
ADHD symptoms often persist, evolve and change as children with ADHD age into adulthood. Recently reported data indicate that adults with ADHD may underestimate the extent of their ADHD-related impairments. Source: ADHD: Making the Invisible Visible.
ADHD treatment happens with a Psychiatrist, but within a therapeutic relationship, therapy may help with processing, talking through tasks and priorities, exploring hacks and ways to work with your brain.
