Couples Therapy

Every relationship has a rhythm: its the dance of connection and disconnection that defines it
— Dr. Julie Gottman

It’s wonderful when couples want to work on the way they communicate with the goal of getting closer and understanding each other better. Couples work is best done when both partners are willing to circumambulate their dynamic and get curious about the narratives they’ve had about each other, their views on relationships and the impact of history on the state of their partnership now.

Couples therapy can be illuminating and healing

I’ve studied the work of the Gottman Method and it serves as a framework for guiding couples into action-oriented work to improve communication and deescalate conflict. I also studied the work of Tammy Nelson, Sex and Relationship Therapist, as well as learned different approaches to couples work from Alexandra Solomon, Janina Fisher and Frank Anderson.
